The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system consisting of a network of 24 orbiting satellites that are eleven thousand nautical miles in space and in six different orbital paths. The satellites are constantly moving, making two complete orbits around the Earth in just under 24 hours.
GPS will show up in on your Timely Guardian Map App in Red writing with icon. You may loose this once your child moves indoors and it will then go blue writing with icon (LBS).
Location Based System (LBS) is a software application that bounces off the Telco towers for a IP-capable mobile device that requires knowledge about where the mobile device is located. This will show up in your Timely Guardian Map App in blue. Often when you see this is says your child is 2km away from where you know they are. This is possibly due to the fact they are in class (inside a building) and satellite signals cannot be obtained so it has bounced off the nearest towers. Once your child goes outside the Maps will bring up your child's location in red highlighting that it is responding to a satellite signal.
